Watched the non-debate on television this afternoon.   This post over at the Meganomics blog sums up the feeling I got from it.  There's no skin in the game and the light on the hill is flickering.   It's a sad state of affairs, perhaps the rest of the campaign might improve?

One positive, Julia mentioned the NBN several times.

    the amazing race ...
Did a whistle stop tour of Albany to attend meetings down at the University's campus there.   I have some sympathy for the pollies and their current press entourages.  Up very early, on a plane, landed, things to do, reverse that and head home.

I wonder if there's a map being kept of the electorates being visited during this campaign?

Looking ever forward, or seeking wisdom at the start of the campaign...
So, the game is on and Australia is "moving forward"

It's seems the party that claims to be the party of Business doesn't understand the word "contract" in terms of their "Action Contract"

Doesn't seem to meet the definition of contract (Agreement (Offer and Acceptance), Capacity to contract, Consideration, Legal purpose, Legality of form, Intention to create legal relations, Consent to contract)

A deed might be more the word that they are searching for.

I wonder how this plays with Section 141 of the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act 1995?  Using the word contract implies an offer :)

    Anyhow, enough of this silliness....

    big bada BOOM thunderstorm
Well, it rained in Perth today, for the first time in a long time...

Reminds me of Adelaide IV ...

"He gave them hailstones for rain; fire mingled with the hail ran along upon the ground. (Psalm 105:32; Exodus 9:23,24)"

I was driving my car as it hit but retreated mostly in time to safety with a few dints only .

Lots of buildings damaged at UWA, including almost all the stained glass on north face of Winthrop Hall.  I'm so not looking forward to work tomorrow.  Somerville inches deep in pine fronds.

Came home to a puddle in the middle of my lounge, several boxes of stuff wet *bugger* and one dead DSL modem.  Online with the spare for the moment running on a not quite correct plug pack.   Domestic switchboards are not meant to have a high water mark.

So wearily at 2am I write this ... to shower and then bed.

    no Mr Fusion involved ...
Travelled (or walked) back to my car from doing the LX tonight at that Scottish play, passing the crowd of college students at Swimshow in the Tav.

Memories of the past and a much simpler life.

'Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep'
It's been a busy week with Grads, PUCS, AICSA, PIV and other commitments.  Sleep is a rare commodity.

And now I'm fighting a printer again ... *sigh*

One of the things about knowing the University well, is that you can ask really pointed questions about it's inconsistencies.

Of course, I only use my powers for good :)

    7 worlds collide ...
So I'm thinking of going to WorldCon/AussieCon4 in Melbourne in September (2-6), I thinking about turning up early and harrassing choral folks (peers at MUCS).   When are MUCS, MonUCS and ROCS rehearsals?

    11:08 pm
    melting ...
It's around 35 degrees inside my house at the moment.  Yuck!

    oy vey, oy vey, O-Day!
Spent the day at UWA O-Day spruiking for PUCS.   It was a bright and sunny day and as such my brain is a bit frazzled and my body is a bit singed around the edges.  Lots of members signed up, which is good.   Hopefully rehearsal will be nice and full on Monday.

    laser printers ... PART TWO
Hmm, firefox seems to autocomplete the field.

I think I've ranted about laser printers before.   Anyhow, tired and need spoons for O'day.   Fighting printers is a job for tommorow.
